The air defense bunker Erndtebrück, called Bunker ERICH, is a partially still used, formerly secret NATO bunker near Erndtebrück in the Rothaargebirge (North Rhine-Westphalia) from which the military airspace surveillance in the central area of German airspace was controlled during the Cold War. The bunker was shut down for fire protection reasons and may no longer be used by the Luftwaffe. Operational control area 2 with the associated Control and Reporting Center (CRC) is now managed from a state-of-the-art ECM-hardened above-ground operational building in the area of the Hachenberg barracks in Erndtebrück. The bunker and the entire associated area is now privately owned and serves as a museum, as well as outside for events in the field of live action roleplay and airsoft.
